My skincare routine

July 25, 2018

Hi everyone! You might have seen my video on IGTV or the link above for a quick review of the products I use on a daily basis. Here's a more in depth breakdown of what I use all the time. I like to keep my skincare routine minimal and I love using chemical-free and natural products. I did a skincare post years ago on the blog and I figured now was about time I update it. Now that I'm 27 I can notice significant changes in my skin's elasticity and texture and I have finally understood how beneficial it is to take care of my skin now while I'm young to prevent from early aging and wrinkles.

The first thing I want to mention before I get into the products is how important it is to drink water! I can iterate this enough. My skin looks so much better when I drink water consistently. I'll be the first one to admit that I don't drink enough water. I don't and I really should. They say drink about 64oz of water, daily, which is about 8 full cups of water and it helps get rid of toxins in the body and help detox. While it does help detox the body, it helps the skin look hydrate and super supple. Once you have that going for ya, the following products will be an added bonus to keep your skin looking fantastic!

Like I said I keep my skincare products to a minimum. I don't use many products but I use products that really work. I have oily/combination skin and in the winter my skin gets crazy dry.

PRODUCTS I LOVE:

MORNINGS: In the mornings I usually just rinse my face with water. I believe the less chemicals you put on your face, the better. So I rinse my face with water, pat dry it with a towel and moisturize with this moisturizer.

The CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 is my favorite daily moisturizer at the moment. After trying many samples of this specific one, recommended to me by my dermatologist, I was thrilled with the results. It is a bit on the thicker side but only because it has sunscreen in it. Now I don't mind the sunscreen scent nor the texture because I'm getting hydration and protection from the sun. For me it's a win-win and it's only 1 product that I have to buy instead of 2. Another option is their Daily Moisturizing Lotion and Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector Broad Spectrum SPF 42 For Face. Both are also great lightweight options. Sunscreen has also been a game changer for me! I was never one to apply sunscreen other than if I was going to the beach or the pool but I started to apply it before makeup rain or shine and my skin looks so radiant and healthy.

NIGHTS: After a long day, I can't wait to take off my makeup. Removing my makeup is honestly one of my favorite things to do. I love to wash off the day with my Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water. I'll take 2 cotton rounds and clean my face and after that I'll take an additional cotton round and take off any of the remain makeup off with my Thayers Natural Remedies Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Toner. It takes off every last bit of makeup and smells amazing!

After I shower I'll prep my skin for bed. I begin with a dry face and I'll continue and apply my under eye cream which is Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. It's literally a dream. After consistent use of this I've noticed my dark under eyes have lightened significantly! It's so hydrating and actually works.

I'll follow up with the BEST LANEIGE - Lip Sleeping Mask. It's the richest most hydrating lip mask and after wearing this at night, I wake up with hydrated, soft lips. Guaranteed. After that I'll add a few drops on either side of my face of the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I'll rub it in smaller circular motions on my cheeks, chin and forever - basically all over my face and then I'll moisturize with the CeraVe PM Face Moisturizer. It's significantly lighter of a consistency than the AM moisturizer but again it leaves my skin soft and ready for the final step.

Finally, I use a Jade Roller all over my face to add a little luxury to my night time routine and use of a Jade Roller help decrease inflammation and helps blood circulation on your face. I like to leave it in a cool place like the refrigerator or an air conditioned room and the chilled roller feels wonderful on your face. I have seen a difference after using it! My skin looks tighter and less puffy when I wake up in the morning.

Woo, what a long post! I hope you find these products helpful and love them as much as I do. Let me know some of your favorite skincare products down below!

Thanks so much for reading today's post!

Restyling your closet

July 17, 2018

I just thought this shot looked so pretty! The sun hit us just at the perfect spot!
This one too! I'm glowing :)
Happy Tuesday! So sorry this post is going up so late but today was so hectic. I've been so busy trying to blog, work my full time, job, style, have a social life, love on my boyfriend and family, workout and sleep -- literally trying to do it all, everyday is exhausting. My friend told me about Randi Zuckerberg's book Pick 3 and how it explains that while we try to have it all, all the time, it's impossible so if we can pick 3 things to accomplish each day, your days become a little bit more balanced. Between work, family, friends, fitness and sleep, pick 3 and there's a higher chance you'll actually achieve your daily goals! Ever since she mentioned the practice, I've been trying to incorporate it in my day to day. Life can get so hectic sometimes, hence why this post is going up a little late!

I wanted to talk about giving your wardrobe a little makeover. I shared with you all a couple weeks ago that I was starting up a business as a style consultant. I wanted to make my services available to everyone, regardless of budget and I wanted to show how it is possible to make style fit for you! One of my favorite ways to incorporate new outfits in my closet is restyling the pieces I already have. Every once in a while I do a major purge and donate things that I haven't worn in over a year. I love using Thread Up to donate my clean and undamaged items, and after doing a purge I like to revaluate what is left. I'm a fan of basics and neutrals so I also make sure to keep a couple neutral pieces in my closet (white t-shirt, beige blazer, black jeans, etc.), and I love to have some prints too! I begin by taking out casual wear first and rearranging tops with bottoms and I make sure to take pictures of the new outfits I've styled that way I can always go back and look when I think I have nothing to wear.

Everything in today's post are pieces that I've had for at least 6-8 months yet never wore them this way. I'll be sharing even more #restylejuly outfits throughout the end of the month, make sure to follow the hashtag and if you're looking for styling advice, shoot me an email at style@thepetiteprinciple.com. I'd love to help you!

My petite friendly picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

July 12, 2018

What a morning it's been! I was up super early to shop the best sale of the year! Anyone else to set an alarm to shop?! Well, let me tell you the craziness that was this morning. I was up bright an early to check out all the new fall pieces and I found so much that I absolutely love and that is petite friendly! As I finalized my cart and went to complete my order my cart emptied - twice! After checking Nordstrom's twitter I saw that clearly I wasn't the only one who was shopping this early in the morning. After many attempts I gave up, but when I went back to check my Nordstrom account it looks like my order went through - twice! Sigh, I couldn't help but laugh. The website is still a little glitchy so be patient, friends! Here is what I got and I cannot wait to style these pieces!

1. Halogen Tweed Midi Skirt - I bought a size 6P.

10. Halogen Puff Sleeve Sweater - available in petite!

I also purchased this coat for winter, this turtleneck because you can never have enough and these slides!

Happy Shopping and thanks for reading today's post!

Nordstrom Sale: Everything you need to know!

July 9, 2018

Happy Monday, everyone! As many of you already know the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts this week. It's one of my favorite sales of the year and I wanted break down every detail in today's post.

The officially sale starts on July 12th for cardmembers! Cardmembers get to exclusively shop pre-season styles for a full week from July 12th to the 19th before the sale opens up to the public. Starting on July 20th the public gets to shop the sale until August 5th when it ends.

My recommendations for the sale:

Get a Nordstrom Card: I got mine just in time for the sale two years ago and I haven't regretted it. I personally don't like getting store credit cards unless I really like shopping at that store and shop often. Getting a Nordstrom card has only been beneficial for me, especially during the Anniversary Sale. You get reward notes that you can use towards your purchases and an alteration credit. You also get to shop the sale a week before everyone else and before all the good items sell out!

Shop for classic pieces: If you've been eyeing a pair of designer denim, now would be the time to get them. Most items are nicely discounted which is awesome considering these are all fall pieces. I purchased my black leather jacket during the sale and I wore it all fall!

Shop luxury: Like I stated before this sale is truly one of a kind and the discounts are great. Most stores have sales once products have been available for a couple weeks but this sale gives you discounted rates before the fall season begins! Brands like Tory Burch, Vince Camuto, BlankNYC and Rebecca Minkoff are available and it's the perfect time to buy from these brands.

Buy many sizes: Since I'm a petite, I often order a variety of sizes when shopping. While I know my measurements, I like to get a few sizes to try on at home so that I can figure out which one fits best. I would recommend doing the same for this sale. A lot of items sell out quickly so it's best to buy a few different sizes just incase and return what doesn't fit,  instead of trying to find another size later on in the sale.

Happy shopping, friends and thanks so much for reading today's post!
