I am a proud advocate of making time for yourself. I am 100% guilty of saying yes to way too many things and spreading myself thin. I like to prioritize my relationships, friendships and day job ahead of my mental and emotion health most of the time. I noticed after a recent "breakdown" and I say that with quotations because it really was a vent session with my co-worker about how my life was falling apart and in shambles, that I was once again spreading myself too thin. Haha, I can be a bit dramatic sometimes! Whoops! I had been feeling a bit off balanced when I asked myself the following questions: 1) When was the last time you said no to a plan? 2) When was the last time you exercised? 3) When was the last time you took time for yourself? Of course the answer was, it's been a while.
While I fully recognize when my body and mind feel off, I also feel guilty of taking the time to get it back in balance. It's hard to prioritize yourself, but please realize it is absolutely necessary for your own sanity! When things get too hectic I like to plan out my weeks. This week for example I planned out when I was going to exercise because exercising regularly was something I started about 6 months ago and worked for me. I've noticed a tremendous shift in my mood when I exercise. It's a huge stress reliever and I get crabby when I don't exercise regularly. So this week I planned that I would workout Monday - Wednesday for at least an hour after work.
This week I also decided to plan when I was going to run errands, annoying, but again it was something that was stressing me out and it's more satisfying to plan it out and then cross it off my to-do list. So I will run errands after the gym this week, Monday-Wednesday. Additionally, I decided to say yes to one thing and that was date night. Friday is date night and this week my boyfriend and I are taking a cooking class and I'm so excited!
Which finally leaves Thursday, my day that will be fully devoted to myself. I might exercise, I might not. I will definitely watch episodes of Fixer Upper because it's my favorite and my might even indulge in a relaxing bath. It'll be a me day, an easy, no fuss kind of day.
