Stoop Thoughts

Happy Monday! My apologies for being MIA for 3 weeks but it's been a very busy 3 weeks. One of our clients gave us a rather large project to do -- it'll be a very hectic end of the year! Also, my boyfriend moved to New York! So we've been unpacking and getting him settled in to his new Brooklyn apartment -- well that's not entirely the truth. We've been binge watching Bob's burgers, eating pizza non-stop and spending the weekends with my parents and his Dad. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm thrilled to finally be in the same city as him and I'm looking forward to exploring this city together.
I've also been thinking of taking a little break from blogging to really do some revamping to the site and making it more user friendly. I know ideally I'd like to keep blogging and revamp at the same time but I like to be realistic. Like most people, I live a busy life, balancing work, social life and family and creating and writing a blog is a second job. One that I love, and one that I want to make even better for you all. I'm not a perfectionist, thankfully, but I like to make sure that things are done well. So if I go MIA for an even longer period of time than normal, I promise I'll be back. And even better than ever.

Maia

Casual Weekend
October 3, 2016
Jacket: Nordstrom c/o BLANKNYC wearing a size S, Sweater: Nordstorm wearing a size S, Jeans: Madewell - mine are a different wash but the same jeans! I'm wearing a size 27, Booties: Steve Madden, Crossbody: Madewell, Necklace: Franchesca's
Hi babes! It's been a cloudy couple of days here in Brooklyn so I wanted to share my favorite thing to wear during chilly fall days like these. My favorite item to wear is a chunky sweater. It's a staple for fall. I paired mine with some high-waisted jeans from Madewell, some suede booties & a leather jacket today. My little brother came to visit me from college this weekend so I wanted to make sure I was wearing something comfy while we explored more of my neighborhood.
Hope you all have a great rest of your week!

Executive Series: The Wrap Dress
September 26, 2016
Boooo, it's Monday once again. I swear there needs to be a day between Saturday and Sunday! You blink once and the weekend is over. I hope you've all have a great weekend. Like I said we had the perfect weather this weekend in NYC. It finally feels like fall is here. I haven't had a PSL or gone apple picking soon but I threw on a chunky sweater yesterday to run errands and it was awesome.
Jacket: c/o BlankNYC, Dress: Forever 21 (love this one & this one), Bag: Marc Jacobs, Shoes: ASOS
I wanted to share with you one of my favorite dress styles today. It perfect for creating an hourglass figure and fantastic for my petite ladies. I picked them one up at Forever 21 years ago but it's still on heavy rotation in my closet. Thanks to the lovely Diane Von Furstenberg, the creation of the wrap dress has been a gift sent to fashionistas and women of all body types. The wrap around at the waist enhances your natural waistline and curves. Embrace your curves, ladies! I find that the wrap dress is ideal for petites as well. I often come across petite bodies that tend to be straighter or "boyish", and the wrap dress is perfect to create the illusion of a narrow waist. It's the quintessential dress to have for work and it transitions perfectly to a night out outfit. I can't enough of my wrap dresses. What are you quintessential pieces for work? Share in the comment section below!

Executive Series: ASOS Dress & Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel Hair Inspo
September 20, 2016
Hi babes! I wanted to share some exciting news with y'all. I just started a new position at my company! I'm super excited for the new projects and opportunities that lie ahead. Some of you may know that I work in the legal field and have been working in it since I graduated college a few years ago. I started The Petite Principle to share what I wore to work and while my personal style and what I write about varies, I want to get back to the beginning. I'm going to start what I will be calling the Executive Series -- whether you're an executive assistant, an account exec or a CEO, I want to share the best work outfits for the petite woman. My goal is provide you all with really fantastic ideas on how to spruce up your corporate wear.
Today, I'm starting from the top. Literally the top of my head. I'm starting with some beautiful hair ideas that are so easy to do and will provide a sweet addition to any outfit. I've styled my hair using some of the items from the Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel collection and I hope you enjoy!
Easy Side Part
I started with this simple side part look that is super quick and easy! To add some texture, I curled my hair using a 1" inch barrel, next I used a bit of Amika's Un.done Texture Spray and finished by parting my hair to side and clipping two of the Wishbone clips.
Bling Side Braid
This look was my favorite! I braided the left side of my head and twirled the bottom of my hair into a low bun. I pinned the low bun with a few pins and added three of the Crystal pave fan pins to the braid to finish the look. So easy and so simple. I loved how elegant the pins looked!
Half Up Half Down
Here's another look that I wear all the time! I love having long hair but sometimes I just need it out of my face. After curling my hair with a 1" barrel curling wand to had texture and thickness, I pulled the two front parts of my hair back and secured it with two bobby pins and add the large Crystal Pave Fan Pin to finish off the look. A little messy with a touch of sophistication.

Chloe + Isabel Collab!
September 14, 2016
Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel Bun Cuff, Chloe + Isabel Petits Bijoux Station Choker Necklace, Chloe + Isabel Bead + Chain Multi-Wrap Bracelet, H&M Top
Hi babes! I hope you're having a great week. I've been having a great time at NYFW and it's been so fun meeting and hanging out with some of you! I love NYFW for the beautiful shows of course but it's also so fun to meet new people! While this NYFW season is officially over the summer hasn't entirely left us and before I cover my hair with hats for winter I've been having fun playing around with different hairstyles all thanks to Chloe + Isabel. I'll be honest, I don't do too much to my hair other than curl it or straighten it from time to time but I've fallen in love with the idea of adding fun accessories to my hair. It brings me back to the days when I used to cover my head in glittery butterfly clips!
This bun cuff is so fun and comes in gold, silver and rose gold. The cuff and pin spruce up any regular top knot. I've also loved using the cuff for a low bun look - instantly chic!
I'll be sharing hair looks all week so let me know your favorite looks in the comment section below.
Thanks for reading!

Skincare Favorites
September 5, 2016
Andalou: Night Repair Cream, Andalou: Defense Facial Lotion, Andalou: Enlighten Serum, Aquaphor: Healing Ointment
Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you all my updated skincare favorites. My skin is incredibly temperamental and super sensitive. Let's say my skin likes to misbehave and because I had so many allergies as I child I was eczema-prone. I noticed my skin started to get a little fussy lately so I decided to go all-organic and keep my skincare routine as natural as possible. I did some research and discovered Andalou was a highly rated natural skincare brand and so I decided to try them out. Initially I set out for their night cream because I had read it was very moisturizing and I was looking for a cream that would provide just that! My skin was getting really dry especially in the mornings so this night cream was exactly what I was looking for. I also needed a daily moisturizer, one that was light enough that I would wear under make up primer, and one that would not make my face really greasy. Finally, I decided to also try their brightening serum because I had never tried one before and I was intrigued. They arrived in the mail and I've been using them for about a month or so, here are my thoughts:
Andalou Naturals Turmeric Plus C Brightening Serum: 6/10 - While I have been using it for the past month, I have not seen a significant change in my skin. I don't think it's any brighter and it's stings on my face sometimes, especially around my eyes so it's not my favorite product.
Andalou Naturals Ultra Sheer SPF 18 Daily Defense Facial Lotion: 8/10 - I love how lightweight it is on the face. It doesn't feel greasy, heavy or sticky at all and I'm a big fan of the citrus fragrance. It also doesn't leave my face looking oily after applying make up - big plus! It's very moisturizing but I still have some dry spots around the bottom portion of my face that need even more moisturizing.
Andalou Naturals Resveratrol Q10 Night Repair Cream: 10/10 - I love this stuff! It comes in the cutest little green jar, and is so light weight but really, really moisturizing. It leaves skin feeling really smooth the next morning and moisturizes even the driest spots on my face.
BONUS PRODUCT
Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment Skin Protectant: 10/10 - Aquaphor has been a holy grail product of mine since I was 4 years old. I'm serious. Remember when I mentioned I had ecezma, yeah well it was really bad and lasted for years but Aquaphor saved my skin big time. While it didn't take it away completely (it went away when I outgrew my allergies), but it was really moisturizing for my dry, itchy skin. I still use it on my arms, my face, my legs, my feet, everywhere! The downfall is that it is greasy so I tend not to use it when I'm wearing make up or wearing long sleeve shirts (because it gets stuck on clothing), but I truly will always use this product!

Stripes & White

Zara: Frayed Peplum Top, Banana Republic Shorts, Laila Rowe Panama Hat, Steven by Steve Madden: Sabbie Espadrille Wedges, Bauble Bar: Necklace, Mantraband: Bracelet
Hiya babes, it's officially September! While I'm counting down the days until chunky sweaters and everything burgundy, I'll still miss the summer which is why I'm doing a throwback Thursday post today. It's been a month since I was in Cancun but I wanted to share these photos with y'all. I fell in love with this Zara striped top. Such a cute find, so easy and relaxed for the end of summer and it's on super duper sale now! I paired it with petite white shorts and beachy waves (thanks to the ocean & humidity!) for this casual resort look. Hope you are having a great week.

Nordstrom: Lush Shift Dress, Chloe + Isabel: Earrings & Bracelet, Anthropologie: Jasper & Jeera Espadrilles - on sale now!, Zara: Tote, similar
Hi y'all! I hope you're having a great week so far! I wanted to share my favorite dress of the moment with you. I found this little number from Nordstrom and was such a good find. This shift dress from LA based brand Lush is a casual and feminine option for anyone's wardrobe. I fell in love with the burnt siena color and thought it was the perfect piece as we transition into fall. I'm wearing a regular XS but wished they made a petite option because I would have preferred the length to be a few inches shorter, either way it helped me beat the heat as I strolled around Bushwick with Kristin from The Petite Pear Project. We wandered around Bushwick collective - an awesome collection of murals done by local artists, and stopped by my favorite taco shop before ending the night with tons of much needed girl talk.
